Tracing Movement Jar
Tracing movement, memory, and material transformation, this ceramic jar form draws its energy from the expressive, unpredictable nature of Raku firing. The rounded silhouette feels grounded yet animated, shaped slowly by hand to preserve subtle shifts in volume and contour. A continuous, hand-drawn line travels across the surface like a quiet narrative, guided by a painterly sensibility where clay becomes both canvas and object. Crafted in stoneware and Raku-fired, the surface is shaped by rapid heat, smoke, and open-air cooling, resulting in crackled textures, soft veils of carbon, and tonal contrasts that can never be planned or repeated. Designed to be used as a sculptural container, a vessel for small keepsakes, or a focal point on shelves and consoles, the form introduces rhythm, tactility, and a sense of living surface into contemporary spaces.
